As an essential community institution, Nine PBS exists to enable access to information, knowledge, and learning opportunities for all. We tell stories that move us. We meet people where they are the most comfortable consuming content. Nine PBS’s platforms include four distinct broadcast channels (Nine PBS, Nine PBS KIDS®, Nine PBS World, and Nine PBS Create), ninepbs.org, social media, the free PBS Video App, streaming services, live and virtual events, and the Public Media Commons. Since 1954, Nine PBS has accepted the community’s invitation into their homes, schools, and businesses.

Nine PBS is comprised of a dedicated team of individuals committed to engaging our community through quality content to strengthen civic life. We bring together diverse voices, viewpoints, and perspectives to tell rich, authentic stories – all anchored by community priorities – to educate, engage, entertain, and challenge. We believe that when we succeed, we ignite the spirit of possibility across our region.
Nine PBS is a non-profit organization with a non-commercial broadcasting license from the Federal Communications Commission (FCC). We began broadcasting in 1954 and in 1969, became a proud founding member of the Public Broadcasting Service (PBS).

Notable Accomplishments / Recognition

In 2020, Nine PBS was identified by the Women’s Foundation of Greater St. Louis as a top place for women to work. In addition, in 2021, Amy Shaw was recognized by the St. Louis Business Journal as one of the top 25 Most Influential Business Women in St. Louis.
