The Operations Center at the Wisconsin Educational Communications Board (ECB) serves as the distribution hub for six PBS Wisconsin stations. Every day, hours of new program content are recorded onto our playout servers, quality-checked, and then played back across four channels to entertain, illuminate, and educate viewers throughout the state. As a member of our staff, you’ll play a vital role in ensuring this cycle repeats itself 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and you’ll do so with the highest regard for consistency and service to our audience.

Position Summary

This position provides technical support, maintenance, operation, and training for computer-based, television-broadcast systems and devices at the Operations Center (OC) of the Wisconsin Educational Communications Board (ECB), which serves as the master control center for the PBS Wisconsin statewide TV network.  This Television Systems Engineer will learn and further develop complex skill proficiency in a variety of systems-maintenance scenarios and will be integral in the planning and execution of new technologies and workflows within the broadcast environment.

Salary Information

The starting hourly rate for this position will be $26.00 - $31.17, depending on candidate qualifications, plus excellent benefits. This classification is assigned to pay schedule/range 07-35.  A 12-month probationary period will be required. Pay for current state employees will be set in accordance with the compensation plan.

Job Details

Due to the nature of the position, ECB will conduct background checks on applicants prior to selection. ECB does not sponsor work visas. All persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the United States, and to complete the required employment eligibility form.

All state employees are required to report their COVID vaccination status, whether vaccinated or not, and must provide supporting documentation if vaccinated. Newly hired employees will be required to submit this information within their first two weeks of employment.

Qualifications

Qualified applicants will have:

  • Experience working under tight adherence to schedule and extreme attention to detail
  • Education, training, or experience with modern television master control workflows and technologies
  • Experience working with interactive software operations
  • Education or experience installing, configuring and troubleshooting electronic systems (e.g., video production, TV or radio broadcasting, scoreboard operations)
